Spanish School in Leon Nicaragua

  • Introducing

Leon, the cultural center of Nicaragua! At the Nicaragua Spanish Language Schools Leon location, we have 12 staff and personnel with most having more than 10 years teaching Spanish as a second language.

Your Coordinator, David Flores is a nice guy who is accessible, helpful and a humorous guy to be around. The curriculum in Leon has been developed to be dynamic and supportive of the students’ studies. David and his staff are always there to help answer student’s questions and support their goal to better their Spanish. Whether you just want to take a few classes or if you want the full immersion experience, with homestay and activities, you set your program. All classes are one-on-one with your instructor so you can start your Spanish classes any day of the week. Whether you are 18 or 80, you will like our program.

We have several homestay families arranged in Leon. All homes have been inspected and have worked before with our students. We receive regular reports from the families and students, and to date, have had no complaints. The school and the families take the student’s safety very seriously and we always strive to integrate this portion of the program into the students program to advance his/her Spanish even more rapidly. If you would prefer a hostel or hotel, just let us know and we can make some suggestions about places to stay close to the school.

The school in Leon also offers various activities for students. Just ask and we will let you know what activities will be available during your visit!

  • About Leon Nicaragua

The first city named León in Nicaragua was established in 1524 by Francisco Hernández de Córdoba. The city was abandoned in 1610, after an eruption of the Momotombo volcano, located only a couple miles away, which left extensive damage in the form of flooding from Lake Managua. The inhabitants decided to move to its current location next to the Indigenous town of Subtiava. The ruins of the abandoned city are known as “León Viejo” and were excavated in 1960. In the year 2000, León Viejo was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is also the second largest city in Nicaragua, after Managua. It was founded by the Spaniards as Santiago de los Caballeros de León and rivals Leon, Nicaragua, in the number of historic Spanish colonial homes and churches. As of 2005, the city had an estimated population of about 175,000 people which increases sharply during university season with many students coming from other Nicaraguan provinces. It is the capital and municipality of the León department. Keywords: Spanish Lessons in Leon Nicaragua, Leon Nicaragua Spanish Schools
